The breakaway coupling for fuel dispensers is designed to prevent fuel spillage if the refueler forgets the fuel dispenser in the car’s tank. In addition, the rupture clutch helps to avoid serious damage to the fuel columns and fuel dispensing guns.
The breakaway coupling is installed at the gas station on the hose of the fuel column that connects the fuel dispensing gun and the fuel dispensing column. The main function of rupture clutches is to protect the fuel dispenser from serious damage. If there is a gun in the tank of the car and the car leaves the gas station, the rupture clutch will break into 2 parts and prevent:
- fuel leak
- deformation of the fuel dispenser housing
- depressurization of the fuel line
